Chocolate Babka

Ingredients

  • 500g plain flour
  • 7g instant yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 120ml warm milk
  • 100g sugar
  • 120g butter
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 50g cocoa powder

Preparation

  1. Make an enriched dough with the flour, yeast, eggs, milk, sugar and butter; prove until doubled.
  2. Melt the chocolate with a little butter and the cocoa into a spreadable paste.
  3. Roll the dough out, spread with the chocolate and roll into a tight log.
  4. Slice lengthways and twist the two halves together, then place in a loaf tin.
  5. Prove again and bake at 180C for 30 to 35 minutes, then brush with sugar syrup.
